Laminar Downflow Booths:

Extract Technology booths have been used extensively in the biopharmaceutical industry for over twenty years, protecting operators from the harmful dusts generated during manual powder handling operations such as weighing, dispensing, sampling, and charging.  Clean air from the ceiling plenum is distributed evenly across the entire work area pushing any respirable dust generated downward and away from the operators breathing zone. The high velocity exhaust grills direct the dust into the on-board filtration system, which then recirculates the clean air back into the ceiling plenum.  A small amount of air is exhausted after the filters to ensure containment in the booth.

The use of rigid screens improve operator protection inside the booth to levels below 10 microgram/m3 on a consistent basis. In the booth shown to the right, levels were found in the 1-2 microgram/m3 range. Results may vary due to quantities of product and length of operation.
Rigid screens can move front to back, side to side and up/down within a booth. They can also rotate and tilt. Glove ports are an option. Retrofit packages are available to add a screen to an existing downflow booth.

Glassware and Kilo Lab Booths:  Containment booths housing laboratory & pilot plant glassware and test equipment are also available, and designed to protect operators from dusts, solvent vapors, and aerosols during operations.

Quadraflow Workstations:  The Quadraflow Workstation is a recirculatory airflow unit which offers maximum operator protection during small powder handling operations.  The open-fronted unit has easy access to the mobile exhaust table, and hinged glass fronts allow full access to the work area for the set up and removal of equipment.

Solvent Drum Booths:  The solvent drum booths are designed to enclose the work operation and assist in the removal of solvent vapors during solvent dispensing from drums.  They are typically constructed of stainless steel, with a solid floor if required, to handle potential solvent spills.  Hinged doors and sliding glass windows allow the operator access from outside the booth.

Powder Handling Benches:  Powder handling benches are self-contained ventilated work enclosures having recirculatory airflow and a multi-stage dust filtration system.  Supplied on castors for easy positioning, it comes ready for connection to a three phase power supply. Lights and sockets are already built-in, and containment levels of 10 microgram/cubic meter (task duration) are achievable.
